Business Name
Business name shortlist and final name selection.
Module 3 Overview
Students develop the public-facing identity for their business by creating a business name, researching domain options, building a simple brand guide, creating an AI-assisted logo design brief, and planning the first version of an informational website. Students also learn how to use AI responsibly while protecting private student information online.
Designed for K–12 charter school students building safe, professional, launch-ready student business websites.

Students check search results, domain availability, social media availability, and potential confusion with existing brands.
Students learn what a domain is, how domains differ from hosting, what a free Netlify URL is, and why a custom domain is optional.
Students define brand colors, tagline, logo concept, brand personality, customer-facing tone, words to use, and words to avoid.
Students create a logo design brief before using AI or design tools to generate logo ideas.
Students map out the first version of their website and draft simple, clear website copy.
Students learn not to publish home addresses, personal student phone numbers, school IDs, full birthdates, private family information, payment information, or unapproved photos.
Recommended Starter Website Structure
This beginner-friendly structure is broad enough to work for almost any student business and keeps the first version simple, clean, and easy to understand.
Introduces the business, explains the main offer, and gives visitors a clear next step.
Describes the student’s product, service, or idea in a simple and organized way.
Explains the process for requesting information, joining a waitlist, or learning more.
Shares the business story, mission, and purpose without revealing private student information.
Answers common questions from parents, customers, teachers, or community members.
Provides a safe way for visitors to reach out using an approved form or parent/guardian-approved email.
Students do not need to own a custom domain to build or launch the first version of their website. For student business projects, we recommend launching first on a free Netlify URL. A custom domain can be added later if the parent/guardian approves and the student is ready to move forward with a more formal public launch.
